Timothy Byron, owner and one of the managing partners of the Byron and Company Law Offices of Fort McMurray in Alberta, is practiced in real estate, estates law, business law and general litigation, and for over twelve years, has been an integral part of the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo’s legal community. Actively involved in the day-to-day running of his law office, Timothy and his fellow legal partner and wife, Mila Byron, offer needed legal services to one of Canada’s fastest growing regional municipalities. With the influx of residents in Fort McMurray, family law is a particularly important and growing field. As well as serving in private practice, Timothy served the Government of Alberta’s Office of the Attorney General, Crown Prosecutor’s office for over six years, overseeing traffic and regulatory prosecutions for the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo. During this time, he was also Wood Buffalo’s Municipal Crown Prosecutor for bylaw prosecutions. A long-time resident of Fort McMurray, Timothy moved here with his family in 1980 when his father was appointed as Chief Commissioner (currently designated as Chief Administrative Officer) for the City of Fort McMurray, a position he held for nearly a decade. During that time, Timothy graduated from high school in Fort McMurray, moving on to attend the University of Alberta where he earned his Masters and Law Degrees . He returned to Fort McMurray to practice law. While attending the University of Alberta, Timothy volunteered with Operation Friendship, an inner-city residence and drop-in centre for disadvantaged seniors in Edmonton, Alberta. Operation Friendship offers a gathering place for socializing, volunteering and serves as a way to keep seniors active in their community. Meals, recreation and wellness activities are all part of the volunteer program. In addition, the drop-in centre offers different clinics, visiting nurses and the opportunity to socialize with their peers. In addition to his prosecutorial and civil legal experience, Timothy has been a promoter of community development within Fort McMurray and the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo. He has been an active member of the Fort McMurray Bar Association, the Fort McMurray Chamber of Commerce and the Fort McMurray Urban Development Institute. Continuing his support for community development, he was part of the Wood Buffalo Builder’s Association and the Fort McMurray Construction Association. Wood Buffalo is one of the fastest-growing regional municipalities in Canada and Timothy promotes community development in pace with population growth. Timothy has served as a board member of the Fort McMurray Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA). Timothy is also an accomplished musician who has played in the local Keyano College Theatre’s orchestra for several Broadway musical productions. He has also volunteered for musical productions with the Suncor Centre for the Performing Arts – Holy Trinity School theatre and the local Honey B’s musical ensemble.
